Using the platform
Overview
Upon accessing the platform, you will be presented with the main map interface in full-screen mode, showing the latest available forecast.
Product Layers — Sidebar Expansion
After selecting a date of your chosen forecast, if the sidebar of layers is not visible on the left side of the web viewer, expand the sidebar by clicking the ‘layers’ icon 
on the left side of the screen. The layers sidebar houses the five blocks of EDERA products, which are explained in the ‘List of Layers’ section below.
The layers sidebar provides access to the various EDERA products, allowing you to switch between the products seamlessly. In blue are four blocks of different flash flood products and static products are available in green.
Click the arrow to expand the list of available products for each block.
The sidebar includes several important tools:
- Layer Management: You can toggle the visibility of each layer using the ‘eye’ icon
, adjust opacity through the provided slider, and access detailed descriptions and legends using the ‘i’ icon 
for each layer.
Frame Selector
Once you have configured the desired layers, go to the frame selector at the bottom of the screen. The frame selector can be minimised using the ‘down arrows’ icon 
.
- Forecast Time Selector: On the left-hand side, you can select a forecast date and time for your chosen event. Select the date/time of your event and click ‘Apply’. Please note that times are in the UTC rather than local time zone.
- Forecast Frame Selector: For selected products, on the right-hand side, you can scan through the different time steps of your chosen forecast using the time slider. The left portion (in white) displays past time steps derived from observational data, while the right portion (in red) indicates forecasted data.
Notifications Panel - Sidebar Expansion
On the right-hand side of the Platform, click the ‘green’ icon 
to expand the notifications panel. In this panel, you will see a list of all the active notifications from the Official Warnings layer that are in place for the current forecast. The levels are colour-coded according to the Official Warnings categorisations of Severe (red), High (orange), and Medium (yellow).
Notifications can be searched and filtered by using the top panel.
Users can also set their email configuration to receive updated notifications from this panel on the EDERA platform. To set up this configuration, click the ‘cog’ icon * at the top right corner of the notifications panel. This will open a pop-up where the user can choose options for the email, such as frequency, impact level, and products to be included in the updates.
